Global remittance giant MoneyGram has officially launched its MoneyGram Ramps service on the Solana blockchain, unlocking massive real-world fiat connectivity for decentralized applications. For developers building full-stack platforms or crypto tracking applications, integrating reliable fiat on- and off-ramps is usually a major regulatory and technical bottleneck. This expansion changes that dynamic by stripping away the heavy lifting. Single API Access, Instead of negotiating individual banking integrations or building local cash infrastructure market by market, developers can now access MoneyGram's entire global cash network through a single API connection. Built-in Sandbox & SDKs. The Ramps service provides instant sandbox credentials and software development kits (SDKs) directly through the Solana Developer Platform's payments module. This allows engineering teams to thoroughly test cash-to-crypto payment flows before pushing their applications to production. Rift Wallet has already become the first Solana application to successfully integrate the service, allowing its users to seamlessly move between digital assets and local physical cash. By tapping into MoneyGram Ramps, Solana projects instantly gain access to one of the largest physical financial networks on the planet. Users can convert their crypto into local fiat and withdraw physical cash at roughly 500,000 retail locations across more than 170 countries and territories. The service also supports physical cash deposits to acquire digital assets directly in over 25 countries. Solving the Last-Mile Problem, This infrastructure allows platforms to completely bypass traditional bank account requirements. This is highly effective for serving underbanked populations or users in regions where standard crypto-to-bank transfers are notoriously slow or expensive. This rollout marks a significant shift in MoneyGram's overarching blockchain strategy. MoneyGram Ramps previously operated exclusively on the Stellar network (where the company also recently launched its own MGUSD stablecoin). Opening the service to Solana proves the company is adopting a chain-agnostic approach, treating its physical cash network as an independent layer that can plug into multiple ecosystems. MoneyGram is not just acting as a passive service provider, the company became an active validator on the Solana network in June, actively processing transactions and staking SOL. The barrier between physical cash and blockchain liquidity is disappearing. By embedding a compliant, global cash-out layer directly into Solana's developer tooling, builders can now offer users a frictionless bridge between traditional finance and decentralized architecture without taking on the regulatory burden themselves.
